Maize Valley’s annual Hot Air Balloon Lift off is scheduled for Saturday September 27, 2014. This favorite event officially kicks off the fall season at Maize Valley. Half a dozen balloons will take to the sky against the backdrop of all of our fall harvest activities.
Take a wagon ride, navigate the corn maze, visit the animals, marvel at the pumpkin cannon and so much more. Take a break from the outdoor fun with a visit to our winery & NEW Craft Brewery. Sip, sample and taste the many wines and beers we offer. With all of our fall fun, your family will be entertained for hours.
Full concessions including hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled Rueben’s and more, plenty of beverages and of course wine and beer tasting will be offered all day. No outside food or beverages permitted.
The fall activities area opens at noon and closes at 10 p.m. (last admission at 9 pm). Regular admission rates apply – $10 ages 13 & up, $8 ages 2 – 12, under 2 is free.
Plan to arrive in the early afternoon for best parking. This also allows for plenty of time to take in ALL that Maize Valley has to offer before the balloons actually lift off in the late afternoon.

Community Members/Parents Invited to School Community Dialogue #1
Building on the success of the first Futures Conference held Sept. 2, Lake Local Schools invite more community members and parents to attend the upcoming Community Dialogue #1 taking place Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 in the Lake High School cafeteria (enter via door 5). This meeting will impact the future educational direction taken by the school district.
During this meeting attendees will be asked to share their thoughts and opinions about the following:
- Grade Configuration
- Current Facility Conditions
- School Enrollment
- Alternative Educational Delivery Methods (online, career tech, etc.)
“This first Community Dialogue is critical in determining Lake Local School District’s future. We need our community to help identify the kinds of buildings and classrooms used by our students, where the buildings should be located, and the size of the classrooms. Our schools are a direct reflection of our community, and our students’ future depends on how well we prepare them,” said Lake Local Schools Superintendent Jeff Wendorf.
“Listening to you is critical in determining what future decisions will be made for our schools – your participation in these Community Collaboration sessions is imperative. Parents whose children are currently enrolled in the schools are an especially valuable group that we’d like to see attend. Join us Oct. 6 and offer your opinions as to how we can better serve you and your children during the years ahead.”
A Community Dialogue #2 will also take place Tuesday, Nov. 18.
Lake Local Schools is working with DeJong Richter, a national planning firm, to stage and conduct these meetings that will ultimately lead to a comprehensive Strategic & Facility Master Plan for the school district.
For more info call Jeff Wendorf or Karen Koch at 330-877-9383.
