The Hartville/Lake Community Development organization has been awarded a Visit Canton Recovery and Destination Development Grant For Wayfinding Signage

Stark County, Ohio
– The Hartville/Lake Community Development (HLCD) organization was awarded a Visit Canton Recovery and Destination Development Grant for the design, development and construction of Wayfinding Signage along the West Maple Street Corridor.

Visit Canton, the Stark County Convention & Visitors’ Bureau (CVB), has awarded $296,368 in Recovery and Destination Development Grants, and we are honored to be one of the recipients. The CVB made grant dollars available to fund projects in Stark County that are in concert with Visit Canton’s mission to attract visitors and increase visitor spending.  Grantees were encouraged to partner in strategic ways between multiple organizations, businesses, and communities.  Applicants could request from $10,000 to $50,000, with committed matching funds required, to support projects that commence in 2022. The complete Recovery and Destination Development Grant criteria and application process are available to view here.

With the funds that we received from the Recovery and Destination Development Grant awards, we will be using the dollars for the design, development and beginning construction of vehicular wayfinding signage along the West Maple Street corridor. A design and development firm will be hired to develop a vehicular wayfinding sign package that provides a cohesive family of signs that brands the area as an authentic small-town destination. The design and development will incorporate elements from existing structures, capture the charm and character of Downtown Hartville and identify appropriate sign locations to provide easy, informative navigation.
